This handcrafted Tibetan Buddhist amulet necklace — the Twelve Zodiac Nine Square Zodiac — is one of our proudest creations.

The theme is ambitious, yet it has never been widely embraced by the market. Few comparable pieces exist, and we are well aware that our work may not be met with universal acclaim. But to settle for simpler, more commercial subjects would, for us, be a waste of our creative lives.

That is why this necklace took us nearly seven months — from the initial concept to the final form. We did not design for the market. We designed for the work itself, striving only to bring this piece to its fullest realization.

Design Philosophy

1. The overall form is shaped like the celestial tortoise (Xuanwu) — in ancient tradition, the tortoise shell served as a bridge between the earthly and the divine, used for divination and communication with the heavens.

2. At the front center, a crossed vajra is carved in 24K gold, symbolizing indomitable strength and courage.

3. On both sides, the flame-like cloud motifs appear vivid and alive — as if burning — crafted from refined copper. They resemble both flames and wings, full of movement and spiritual presence.

4. On the reverse side is the belly of the tortoise, intricately carved with the Twelve Zodiac Animals — every detail rendered with lifelike precision, even in the most delicate areas. 5. The central gold-plated section features the Nine Square Zodiac (Namkha), symbolizing the cycle of cause and effect — the eternal wheel of karma and cosmic law.

6. Even the tortoise's tail is finished with gold plating, enhancing the overall design with a greater sense of depth, three‑dimensionality, and dynamic tension.

Material & Craftsmanship

Material: S925 Sterling Silver, 24K Gold-plated, Refined Copper

Traditional Fire‑Gilding Process: Gold foil is fused onto the surface of 925 sterling silver at approximately 900°C (gold’s melting point is 1063°C). Using a 40x microscope, every detail is hand‑engraved and refined. Each fire‑gilded element requires repeated cycles of heating, hammering, and engraving — the smaller the surface area, the greater the skill and difficulty required.
