The Conch — the Buddha’s voice of teaching and liberation.

Buddhist iconography offers countless subjects, yet the conch remains among the most esoteric — a minority within a minority. Its shape is notoriously challenging to render, and the market rarely embraces it. We are fully aware that the enormous dedication we invest in this piece may not be reciprocated by popular demand. And yet, we continue.

For this conch necklace, we studied antique conch shells and ritual objects preserved from various dynasties. Over the course of seven months, we designed nearly twenty different versions before settling on this final form.

We never intended to make silverwork that merely resembles a conch shell. We wanted it to feel as if it were carved directly into the shell itself — vivid and alive, yet ancient and dignified.

Design Language

1. The central ring is carved with the Eight Auspicious Symbols of Buddhism, each representing blessings and profound meaning — all meticulously crafted in 24K gold.

2. Within the eight symbols rests a crossed vajra, embodying courage and indomitable strength. A turquoise of rich, oily luster is hand‑set into the center of the vajra, lending this section a deeper sense of antiquity and quiet depth.

3. We have preserved the natural opening of the conch — elegant and fluid, with no trace of carving, as if shaped by nature itself.

4. On the lower half of the conch, we have set a ring of oily turquoise, giving it the appearance of a ritual object steeped in time — aged, quiet, and sacred.

This piece speaks for us

We have created three versions of this piece:

1. Creation Edition — The Eight Auspicious Symbols, scrollwork, gemstone settings, and the body lines of the conch are all wrapped in 24K pure gold.

2. Gold-Plated Edition — The Eight Auspicious Symbols and scrollwork are wrapped in 24K gold.

3. Pure Silver Edition — Crafted in S925 silver. Set with high-quality turquoise.

Traditional Fire‑Gilding Process: Gold foil is fused onto the surface of 925 sterling silver at approximately 900°C (gold's melting point is 1063°C). Using a 40x microscope, every detail is hand‑engraved and refined. Each fire‑gilded element requires repeated cycles of heating, hammering, and engraving — the smaller the surface area, the greater the skill and difficulty required.
